About the Claw ecosystem
What is the Claw ecosystem? +
The Claw ecosystem is the collection of open-source AI agent bots that evolved from OpenClaw, first released in late 2025. There are now 18+ active bots and tools including NanoClaw, KimiClaw, PicoClaw, and ZeroClaw. Each is built for different use cases, cost structures, and technical environments. The space is moving fast; this site publishes monthly research tracking how it evolves.
What is the difference between OpenClaw, NanoClaw, and KimiClaw? +
OpenClaw is the original framework that spawned the ecosystem. NanoClaw is a lightweight derivative optimized for low-resource or edge environments. KimiClaw (Moonshot AI) specializes in long-context task handling. Each has different integration requirements, cost profiles, and ideal use cases. The Field Guide breaks all 18+ bots and tools down side by side.
What free tools does Claw Ecosystem offer? +
Three free tools, all updated monthly alongside the Field Guide: the True Cost Calculator, the Bot Compatibility Matrix, and the Technical Glossary . No account required for any of them.
How often is this research updated? +
The Field Guide is a new edition each month reflecting the current state of the ecosystem. The Claw Ecosystem Monthly is a separate subscription product of six monthly ecosystem updates covering what changed in the last 30 days and what it means. Neither is evergreen content; both are dated and replaced when the landscape shifts.
